Reduce Allergy Symptoms with C60

Allergic disease is the sixth leading cause of chronic disease in the US, and while various treatments have been developed to control allergy, no cure has been found.  Common Allergic Diseases include Hay Fever (Seasonal Allergies), Sinusitis, Asthma, Hives, Food Allergy & Eczema.

Allergy Symptoms

The most common allergy symptoms can simply make you uncomfortable. For example, you may have watery eyes, runny nose, sneezing, a rash or hives. Other more serious symptoms, like trouble breathing and swelling in your mouth or throat, can result from a life-threatening reaction called anaphylaxis (“anna-fih-LACK-sis”).

What types of treatments are there for allergies?

There are treatments aimed at neutralizing allergic response like Antihistamines and H1 receptor blockers, and there are those aimed at preventing an allergic response such as anti-IgE and Omalizumab. On some level, fullerenes are thought to do both.

What does scientific research conclude about the effect of C60 on the allergic response?

A 2007 study published by the Journal of Immunology, tested the effects C60 has on human mast cells and basophils and found that C60 suppresses hypersensitivity to allergens by profoundly reducing cytokine production, the release of histamine, oxidative stress, and allergic response.  C60 does this by preventing mast cells (aka emergency cells) from releasing histamines. The unique structure of C60 allows it to bind to free radicals, preventing them from activating mast cells which release histamines and cytokines.  Mast cells are responsible for causing an allergic response and are packed with granules containing histamine.  When mast cells are activated, inflammatory substances such as histamine, heparin and a number of cytokines are rapidly released into the tissues and blood, promoting an allergic response.

Since first described by Paul Ehrlich in 1878, mast cells have been mostly viewed as effectors of allergy. It has been only in the past two decades that mast cells have gained recognition for their involvement in other physiological and pathological processes.R

For example, mast cells are now thought to play a big part in diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Chron’s Disease, Autoimmune Diseases, and Heart Disease.  C60’s anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties may have some therapeutic effect on these conditions.

In Conclusion

In conclusion, C60 can dramatically reduce your sensitivity to allergens, and help control allergy symptoms. C60 is not recommended however in the case of a serious allergic reaction since that would require emergency treatment.  Fullerenes may also help conditions considered to be Mast Cell Diseases.
